Linkages between and among fellows and trainees of the South Korea-based Rural Development Administration (RDA) will be strengthened and rekindled with the holding of the Philippine-Rural Development Administration Alumni Association’s (PhilRAA) fourth convention slated on January 24─25 at the Traders Hotel in Pasay City.
Themed “Revitalizing linkages and partnerships on S&T innovations towards improving livelihood of farmers”, the event will be highlighted with the presentation of the S&T initiatives and past projects of the partnership of RDA and the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD).
Among these are the completed projects on Japonica rice and natural dye; and the ongoing researches on enhanced production of chrysanthemum through integrated crop management and on adapting to climate change in tomato production through S&T. A field tour is also scheduled for the participants.
Welcoming the guests and participants are PCAARRD Deputy Executive Director Danilo C. Cardenas and RDA-International Technology Cooperation Center Director Sae-Jung Suh.
International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) Deputy Director General of Communications and Partnership Bruce Tolentino will keynote the event. Also delivering a message is PhilRAA Acting President Julian A. Lapitan.
Incidentally, PhilRAA is an association of fellows and trainees from national agricultural research institutions, state universities and colleges, and other entities in the country who had been part of the PCAARRD-RDA workplan of cooperation and IRRI’s Rice Technology Transfer System in Korea.
The organization aims to forge liaison between and among members through conferences, seminars, dialogues, and civic and non-civic activities; provide a venue for information exchange on agriculture and natural resources R&D; encourage collaborative activities to ensure continuous technology sharing among members; and promote camaraderie, brotherhood, and solidarity among members.
