Dr. Melvin B. Carlos, Director of the Technology Transfer and Promotion Division (TTPD) of the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development, Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD), presents the Council’s Technology Transfer programs and other initiatives as well as the ongoing projects funded by the Philippine-Rural Development Administration (RDA in South Korea) Alumni Association (PhiKolRAA). This was during PhilKoRAA’s Sixth General Assembly and Convention on September 29-30 at DOST-PCAARRD Innovation and Technology Center (DPITC) in Los Baños, Laguna. The initiatives, as explained by Carlos, are designed towards meeting the challenge for competitiveness of the country’s agri-aqua enterprise in accordance with global standards. Carlos also explained the recent institutional reforms of the Council, the policy environment, strong alliances, and the Council’s most recent technology transfer infrastructure, the DPITC, as essential elements of the Council’s technology transfer efforts. Founded on September 4, 2003, PhilKoRAA has evolved as a mechanism for scientific linkages and research missions between the Philippines and South Korea through PCAARRD and the Rural Development Administration (RDA).
