The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) and the Cagayan Valley Agricultural and Aquatic Resources Research and Development (CVAARRD), together with other agencies, recently showcased their S&T accomplishments in the Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) in Cauayan City, Isabela.
PCAARRD and CVAARRD featured technologies on citrus, banana, goat, and peanut in their exhibit, which had the theme, “Making S&T work towards inclusive growth.”
As an added attraction, the exhibit of the two agencies also featured an interactive game, wherein winners received prizes. Laureano U. Reyes, (right photo, in blue) PCAARRD Senior Science Research Specialist and Alexander F. Ritua, (in green) CVAARRD coordinator, handed prizes to the winners of the game.
The Region II RSTW was formally opened by (left photo) Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang, (in dark blue) DOST Region II Regional Director; Dr. Brenda L. Nazareth Manzano, DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operations; and Dr. Carol M. Yorobe, DOST Undersecretary for Scientific and Technological Services.
The RSTW is part of DOST’s initiative to showcase DOST agencies’ outputs in S&T and bridging world class applications to its target beneficiaries in the region. This year, aside from Isabela, the RSTW is also celebrated in Cebu, Davao, Nueva Ecija, Laguna, Butuan, Romblon, General Santos City, Iloilo, Valenzuela City, Zamboanga del Sur, Tacloban City, Cagayan de Oro, Legazpi City, Ilocos Sur, and Kalinga.
