Partnership for Carrageenan project inked. The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) sealed a partnership with the National Crop Protection Center, College of Agriculture and Food Science, University of the Philippines Los Baños (NCPC-CAFS, UPLB), DOST Region IV-A, and the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office IV-A (DA-RFO IV-A) for the implementation of the carrageenan plant growth promoter field verification project in CALABARZON.
Held recently at Café 8, Private Dining Room, Crimson Hotel, Alabang, Muntinlupa City, the signing of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) was attended by Dr. Jocelyn E. Eusebio, Director of the Crops Research Division (CRD), DOST-PCAARRD, together with Dr. Gil L. Magsino, Director of NCPC-CAFS, UPLB; Dr. Alexander R. Madrigal, Regional Director of DOST IV-A; and Engr. Arnel V. De Mesa, Regional Executive Director of DA-RFO IV-A. Also present in the activity were Angelito T. Carpio, Industry Strategic S&T Program (ISP) Manager for Rice of CRD, DOST-PCAARRD; Dr. Lydia G. Manguiat, Assistant Regional Director of DOST IV-A; and Director Digna P. Narvacan, Chief Science Research Specialist of DA-RFO IV-A.
CALABARZON is one of the eight regional project sites of the countrywide project on field verification of the effectiveness of carrageenan technology for rice.
