National review of enhancing the demand for AFNR grad program slated

Los Baños, Laguna - More than 100 implementers from state universities and colleges, evaluators from monitoring and funding agencies, and other stakeholders are expected to attend the national program review of “Enhancing the demand for agriculture, forestry and natural resources (AFNR) graduates through science and technology (S&T)” on April 12 ̶ 13 at the PCARRD Headquarters.

Also invited to grace the event is Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Estrella F. Alabastro who will deliver an inspirational message. Alongside, PCARRD Executive Director Patricio S. Faylon will welcome guests and participants.

Specifically, the objectives of the review are as follows: 1) Present results of Project 1, which is on the current and future state of supply and demand of AFNR in the country; 2) Assess the overall progress of Project 2 on institutional capability activities; 3) Evaluate Project 3 accomplishments with respect to educational-income generating projects, technopreneurial learning projects, and DOST-Academe Technology-Based Enterprise Development; and 4) Address concerns and challenges of the program in its last year of implementation.

Incidentally, information, education and communication materials of Project 2 and products of Project 3’s educational-income generating projects will also be exhibited at PCARRD’s Bulwagang Panday Karunungan Hall during the review.

Launched in 2008, the P200-million program aims to understand the factors affecting the supply and demand of human resources in the AFNR sectors and provide direct interventions to capacitate SUCs; and improve the employability and entrepreneurial potential of AFNR graduates.
