The Visayas State University (VSU), which is spearheading the Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement (RAISE) Program in Eastern Visayas, conducted the Year 2 Semi-Annual Review of the program on July 20, 2023 at the VSU RDEI Hall, OVPREI Building, Baybay, Leyte.
The RAISE Program is DOST-PCAARRD’s latest technology transfer platform, which aims to provide the optimum environment for inventors, innovators, and investors and calls for the commitment of the regional stakeholders to collaborate to build a competitive agri-aqua innovation ecosystem that maximizes the potential of every science and technology innovation.
The review was attended by DOST-PCAARRD’s Technology Transfer and Promotion Division (TTPD), led by Director Noel A. Catibog, alongside the Socio-Economic and Research Division (SERD) as part of the monitoring team. VSU Vice President for Administration and Finance Daniel Leslie S. Tan and DOST Region VIII Representative Florentino L. Quinones, Jr. graced the event and gave messages of support and appreciation to the implementation of the RAISE program.
The activity was organized by the RAISE Region VIII Program Team of VSU and was participated by the following Project Teams who presented their respective accomplishments:
- Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management (IPTBM) Office of the Samar State University (SSU) led by Engr. Raven T. Tabiongan, represented by Dr. Vivian L. Moya and Engr. Fernando S. Macabare III;
- IPTBM Office of the Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) led by Dr. Marianne Agnes T. Mendoza;
- Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) led by Dr. Pearl Aphrodite B. Carnice;
- Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) led by Dr. Mevin S. Sarsale;
- Eastern Philippines (UEP) led by Dr. Karina Milagros C. Lim;
- IPTBM Office of VSU led by Ms. Maria Louella C. Tambis;
- Agribusiness Hub (ABH) of VSU led by Dr. Moises Neil V. Seriño, represented by Ms. Crislin B. Cruz;
- Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubator (ATBI) Prof. Marlon M. Tambis; and
- Knowledge Management (KM) Hub of VSU led by Dr. Ceniza.
Dir. Catibog commended the RAISE Region VIII Program Management Team for its impressive achievements, recognizing their hard work and dedication. He also underscored the importance of collaboration among all relevant stakeholders in the region who play a pivotal role in fostering a thriving culture of innovation throughout Eastern Visayas.
Aside from the review, the whole-day activity also featured the launching of the Regional Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubator (ATBI) Manual led by VSU Director for Innovation Alan B. Loreto, together with Regional ATBOI Project Leader and Philippine Root Crop Research and Training Center and Assistant Director Tambis. Likewise, the Recognition and Graduation Ceremony for the participants of the Regional Intellectual Property Master Class (IPMC), Agribusiness Master Class (ABMC), Technology Promotion Mentorship Series (TPMS), and Technology Commercialization Mentorship Series (TCMS) were also conducted.
DOST-PCAARRD started the implementation of the RAISE program in 2022 across seven regions of the country to strengthen its pursuit in bringing innovative solutions closer to the people, stimulating inclusive growth and regional development.
