The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the U.S. Department of State invite young Filipino scientists, innovators, and entrepreneurs to showcase their ideas and start-ups in the Science and Technology (S&T) fields in the 2016 Global Innovation through Science Technology (GIST) Technology Idea (Tech-I) Competition.
The GIST Tech-I Competition is held every year for S&T entrepreneurs from emerging economies worldwide. To qualify, participants should be from GIST eligible emerging economy and should be between 18-40 years old.
Once eligible, the required entries should have the following components:
- A summary consisting of one to two sentences describing the idea or the startup that would not exceed 100 words.
- An executive summary narrative that would not exceed 750 words and written in English. It should be completed online in the application tool.
- A 90-second promotional video that highlights the value and purpose of the product or service to the customers. The video should focus on the concept, product, or service being promoted and its potential market value. Examples of videos can be found here: http://www.gistnetwork.org/tech-i/advice
Up to thirty finalists can win a trip to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) this year in Silicon Valley to showcase their ventures and to receive intensive training. GIST Tech-I winners, selected by experts at the GES will win prizes and receive one-on-one mentorship and training.
