Farmers, entrepreneurs, and science and technology (S&T) workers were trained on hydroponic crop production at the Central Luzon State University (CLSU), Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija.
Conducted as a response for the need to enhance livelihood programs, the training on hydroponic crop production was funded by the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD). 
The Agricultural Resources Management Research Division (ARMRD) of DOST-PCAARRD and the Central Luzon Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (CLAARRDEC) coordinated the training.
“Hydroponic production system is a viable and sustainable system which produces nutritious and safe crops. It is also an adaptation measure for climate change,” said Rodolfo O. Ilao, ARMRD-PCAARRD Director.
Thirty participants from state colleges and universities, local government units, farmers/entrepreneurs, and S&T workers attended the training.
The participants were informed on the basic principles of hydroponic production systems, greenhouse establishment, nutrient solutions, plant nutrition, growing media, nursery management, cultural management in protected structure, pest management principles, harvest and postharvest, and simple economics of hydroponics. They were also trained on growing media, seedling propagation, transplanting, and preparing organic pesticide.
Resource persons from CLSU included Associate Professor Dr. Chito F. Sace, Arjay A. Aquino, and Jaypee H. Estigoy.
