Exceptional AANR Stories of Innovation to be recognized at the 2023 Ulat SIPAG Award

The search for outstanding print, broadcast, and online media professionals who have popularized stories from the agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources (AANR) sector is back with new developments and a larger reach.

The 2023 Ulat SIPAG, the country's major award-giving body for AANR science journalism, will again bestow its recognition of exceptional writing and storytelling among media professionals across the country. In addition to its print and broadcast categories, this year’s award will see the introduction of the online publication category.

With the rise of digital media, the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) aims to expand its efforts in recognizing the contribution of all science communicators in promoting AANR Innovations across all platforms.

Nominations will not be open to the public this season. Instead, DOST-PCAARRD will screen and select all entries across each category through its media monitoring efforts from June 2022 up to May 31, 2023.

Pre-selected candidates will be requested to submit the following information:

  • Feedback letters from listeners/viewers such as letters or emails inquiry about the information or technology, screenshots of positive comments or inquiries on Facebook, or recorded feedback for radio and TV broadcasts. Physical letters should be certified by the publishing company.
  • Advertising rate of the print and online publications.

Organized annually by DOST-PCAARRD, Ulat SIPAG recognizes the efforts of private media practitioners in popularizing science and technology information on priority concerns of DOST-PCAARRD, primarily its Industry Strategic S&T Programs (ISP) in the AANR sector. It is one of the awards given during the DOST-PCAARRD S&T Awards and Recognition ceremony, along with other awards such as Pantas, Tanglaw, Ugnay, and Best Research and Development Papers.
