Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Undersecretary Carol M. Yorobe as she delivers the keynote message of Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña during the Los Baños Science Community Foundation Inc. (LBSCFI) 32nd Founding Anniversary Celebration at the R.D. Guerrero III Hall, DOST-PCAARRD Innovation and Technology Center (DPITC), PCAARRD Complex, Los Baños, Laguna. In his message, Secretary de la Peña lauded LBSCFI for having sustained its more than three decades of existence owing to its inter-agency cooperation, collaboration, and sharing of resources among its 22 member-agencies.
These agencies consist of public, private, and international institutions that are into the sciences, arts, business, and social services. The Los Baños Science Community (LBSC) is one of three science communities established by the Department of Science and Technology in accordance with Presidential Executive Order No. 784 in 1984. The science community concept fosters the spirit of sharing of resources and expertise among agencies located in Los Baños. Three DOST agencies, the Forest Products Research and Development Institute (FPRDI), the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD), and DOST-Region IV-A also comprise the membership of the Foundation.
