The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) was recently awarded the Sandigan Award by the Visayas State University (VSU) in Baybay, Leyte, during its 91st founding anniversary convocation program held recently.
The Sandigan Award was given to DOST-PCAARRD for its support to VSU’s research and development (R&D) initiatives, such as the programs and projects on abaca, jackfruit, coconut, and organic vegetable production. The award is given annually to individuals and agencies that have extended valuable support to VSU’s institutional development efforts.
VSU is the lead institution of Visayas Consortium for Agriculture and Aquatic Resources Program (ViCARP), one of the PCAARRD-organized consortia in the country. Since 1978, the consortium has been very active in packaging, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating R&D and technology transfer programs and projects, as well as capacity building and policy research in the agriculture, forestry, and natural resources (AFNR) sectors.
