Event planners know from experience that they are setting themselves for failure if they fail to plan. However, planning is just one of the processes of event management. There are other domains that may help prevent planners from failing, especially in the now normal.
Thus, to upgrade the knowledge and skills on event management of the regional partners and selected staff members of the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD), a training on event management themed, “Making a difference through celebrations: A knowledge session on planning and managing events in the new/now normal,” was hosted recently by the Council at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) in Makati City.
The Council tapped Anton V. Magpantay, a fellow of events management of the Royal Institution Singapore, to conduct the training. Magpantay is one of the directors of the Philippine Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions (MICE) Academy. He is also a co-author and reviewer of the Professional Event Management Guide to MICE, a CHED-compliant textbook published by CnE Publishing.
Magpantay also manages ArtisteSpace, Inc., an event agency, which focuses on corporate events on the arts, environment, social work, poverty alleviation, and other socially relevant issues.
DOST-PCAARRD’s event management training is in its 10th year and is one of the Council’s longest running and popular training series.
For the CY2023 edition of the event management training, Magpantay gave an overview of the skills and sub-skills listed in the Certified Meeting Professional Program International Standards of the Events Industry Council, a global organization that aims to champion for event professionals and event industry excellence.
