DOST-PCAARRD conducts En Banc Proposal Evaluation Workshop for S&T Community Based Farm (STCBF) Projects

Improved S&T Community Based Farm (STCBF) project proposals for 2023 priority funding was the objective of the two-day En Banc Proposal Evaluation Workshop on STCBF projects held on February 1 and 2, 2023.

The activity was conducted by the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) through its Technology Transfer and Promotion Division (TTPD). It was held at DOST-PCAARRD, Los Baños, Laguna.

Led by TTPD Assistant Director Jose Tomas Cabagay, the workshop served as an avenue for evaluators to provide feedback to involved State Universities and Colleges (SUC) on areas to be improved.

Representatives from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), Siquijor State College (SSC), Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU), and Mindanao State University (MSU)-Sulu, participated in the said activity.

DMMMSU was represented by Dr. Angelina T. Gonzales, Vice President for Research and Extension. She was joined by Dr. Anabella Valdez, Dr. Janice Usi, and Mr. Terson Casi for the project, “S&T Community-based Farm for Slaughter Goat for Chevon Processing Business and Fabrication of Chevon.”

Dr. Philna Palongpalong of SSC, on the other hand, presented the project, “S&T Community-based Farm for Sustainable Peanut Production & Processing in the Municipalities of Lazi, Maria, and Enrique Villanueva, Province of Siquijor.”

The project, “S&T Community-based Farm on Enhancing Vegetable Production of Selected Municipalities in Sultan Kudarat,” was presented by Dr. Mitos Delco of SKSU.

Moreover, MSU-Sulu was represented by Mr. Jenny P. Kibtiani Jr. and Mr. Hauchur Julkarnain for the project, “S&T Community-based Farm for Sustainable Cassava and Sari-sari Vegetable Production in Sulu Province.”

The STCBF modality aims to address the gaps in production of a community of farmers through S&T-based interventions and push agro-based products from the communities to the markets.

STCBF beneficiaries will be provided with an array of appropriate S&T interventions, sustainable supply of quality farm products and raw materials that increase farm profitability, community empowerment, better supply chain, and improved partnership and linkages with other stakeholders.
