The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) celebrates its seventh year anniversary on June 22, 2018. This year’s theme is adopted from PCAARRD’s new corporate tagline: “Excellence in Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Innovations.”
This year’s celebration will be marked by the conferment of three awards: the PCAARRD Best R&D Paper, Dr. Elvira O. Tan, and the Ulat SIPAG awards.
The PCAARRD Best R&D Paper Awards encourages Filipino researchers to pursue quality R&D activities in the agriculture, aquatic and natural resources sector.
This award has two categories, the research and the development categories.
The research category recognizes outstanding fundamental basic research, applied research, experimental development, and/or pilot testing in the agriculture, aquatic and natural resources (AANR) sector. The development category, on the other hand, recognizes output of systematic work in applying and/or adopting new knowledge and information, technology, products, processes, systems, services, machines, and equipment gained from research and/or practical experiences or best practices.
Finalists of the PCAARRD Best R&D Paper Awards will present their outputs during the National Symposium on Agriculture and Aquatic Resources R&D (NSAARRD) at the DOST-PCAARRD Complex in Los Baños, Laguna.
Organized by DOST-PCAARRD, the NSAARRD recognizes the outstanding contributions of individuals and institutions in improving the state of R&D in the country for the interest of the agriculture, aquatic and natural resources sector. It is one of the yearly highlights of the PCAARRD anniversary celebration.
Winning papers for both categories will receive P150,000, P125,000, and P100,000 for first, second, and third prize places, respectively. The winning consortia and implementing agencies will receive P10,000 each.
Meanwhile, the Dr. Elvira O. Tan Awards recognize the contributions of Filipino scientists and researches through the publication of R&D results in the fields of agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources and environment in reputable scientific or technical journals.
The award pays tribute to Dr. Elvira O. Tan, an outstanding researcher and a prolific writer. Winning papers will receive P100,000 each for the aquatic and natural resources and environment categories.
Lastly, the Ulat SIPAG awards recognizes the effort of private professional media practitioners who popularize science and technology articles in relation to PCAARRD’s Industry Strategic S&T Programs (ISPs). The awards consist of the print and broadcast categories. For both categories, winners will receive P75,000, P50,000, and P25,000 for the first, second, and third places, respectively.
PCAARRD will hold its seventh year anniversary on June 22, 2018 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Pasay City.
