Officials of the Nangahar Valley Development Authority (NVDA) of Afghanistan visited the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) recently.
The visit was made possible through the training course organized by the Regional Center for Asia of the International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR).
Titled, “Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resources Management,” the training course conducted by IIRR aims to enable the participants to learn how the Philippines addresses the challenges in sustainable agriculture and natural resources management.
The NVDA officials were Habibullah Aziz, Saddiqullah Saddiq Said Wali, Asgabudin Hamid, Mirwais Khiali Jan, Amirullah Naqeeb Zada, Abdul Pacha Shenwari, Ehsanullah Amini, Ahmad Khalid Sahibzada, and Gulam Mustafa Noori.
Dr. Leah Buendia, Director of Policy Coordination and Monitoring Division (PCMD), Director Rodolfo Ilao, and Dr. Bethilda Umali of the Agricultural Resources Management Research Division (ARMRD); Dr. Faustina Baradas of the Forestry and Environment Research Division (FERD), and Agustin Antonio Ramos V of the Technology Transfer and Promotion Division (TTPD), briefed the guests on the PCAARRD programs and projects showcasing local innovations and best practices in sustainable agriculture and natural resource management.
