DOST-PCAARRD joins UPLB’s 114th Foundation Day celebration

Held recently, the commemoration of the University of the Philippines Los Baños’ (UPLB) 114th Foundation Day was joined by the state university’s industry, community, and other key partners.

The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD), UPLB’s partner in various research and development and human resource development (HRD) programs throughout the decades, participated in the celebration’s exhibit.

Featured in the Council’s exhibit were its HRD programs, eLibrary, Smarter Approaches to Reinvigorate Agriculture as an Industry in the Philippines (SARAI) Program’s knowledge portal, and the Carrageenan Plant Growth Promoter (CPGP).

The HRD programs include the Graduate Research and Education Assistantship for Technology (GREAT) Program, thesis/dissertation assistance, re-entry for returning scholars, publication incentives, Balik Scientist Program, non-degree training program, and the DOST-PCAARRD Sandwich Program Grant for Graduate Research in the Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources (AANR).

DOST-PCAARRD’s eLibrary is an online service facility that provides free access and downloads to a wealth of AANR resources. The eLibrary may be accessed at https://elibrary.pcaarrd.dost.gov.ph/slims/.

On the other hand, the Smarter Approaches to Reinvigorate Agriculture as an Industry in the Philippines (SARAI) knowledge portal, www.sarai.ph, is an online platform that is only dedicated to the DOST-PCAARRD funded SARAI Program.

Finally, Carrageenan Plant Growth Promoter (CPGP) is a plant food supplement extracted from red seaweeds and degraded through gamma irradiation that elicits plant growth. As with the SARAI, the Council funded the development of the CPGP.
