BAYBAY CITY, Leyte─A Jackfruit processing plant for vacuum fried and dehydrated jackfruit has been inaugurated in simple ceremonies in this jackfruit town of Eastern Visayas.

The processing plant is an initiative of the local government of Baybay City in support of the local food processors who are composed mainly of women as agri-entrepreneurs.

The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) and the Cagayan Valley Agricultural and Aquatic Resources Research and Development (CVAARRD), together with other agencies, recently showcased their S&T accomplishments in the Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) in Cauayan City, Isabela.

Noong ika-apat ng Disyembre taong 2012, tinamaan ng bagyong Pablo ang Davao del Norte, Compostela Valley, at Davao Oriental. Nasalanta ang mga taniman ng saging, niyog, at iba pang mga importanteng tanim na tanging pinagkukuhanan ng kabuhayan ng mga magsasaka at mangingisda.

Technology mainstreaming is alive in the Philippines as fifteen researchers and technology transfer officers of different state colleges and universities (SCUs) pitched for their products and technologies in a demo day. 

Held at the Makati-based Asian Institute of Management (AIM) on September 7, 2017, the activity served as the final defense and demo of the fellows trained under the Leaders in Innovation Fellowship (LIF) Programme.

The country’s technology transfer and commercialization efforts are in high spirits having drawn the much needed impetus from the passage of the Technology Transfer Act of 2009.

Serving as the state’s exemplar to facilitate the flow of government generated technologies from the laboratory to the market, the law has since then inspired numerous initiatives primarily from the state colleges and universities.
