Climate-smart agriculture technologies and a digitally accessible library of agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources (AANR) information were featured in the recently concluded Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-Bicol 2026 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) held on August 19-21, 2026 at the University of Camarines Norte in Daet, Camarines Norte.
These technologies were exhibited by the DOST-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD).
Themed, “Agham, Teknolohiya, at Inobasyon: Kabalikat sa Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na Kinabukasan,” the event showcased science, technology and innovation outputs from government, academe, industry, innovators, and communities.
DOST-PCAARRD exhibited its eLibrary, an online service facility that provides free access to publications and studies related to the AANR sector. Information, education and communication materials such as production guides of selected commodities and corporate publications were also distributed to the visitors.

Also featured was the Council-funded Smarter Approaches to Reinvigorate Agriculture as an Industry in the Philippines’ (SARAI) via SARAI Bicol, a regional implementation of the program.
SARAI is a major climate-smart research program, which developed advanced tools like satellite data and weather stations to provide farmers science-based crop advisories and build agricultural resilience.
Highlighted in the SARAI Bicol exhibit were the Community-level SARAI Enhanced Agricultural Monitoring System (CL-SEAMS), Smart Pest Identification Technology (SPIDTECH), and SARAI Drone.
CL-SEAMS is an information system that utilizes satellite information that is built on a platform of free and open source: Geographic Information System and Remote Sensing technologies to monitor crops and identify areas at risk of pests, diseases, flooding, and drought.
SPIDTECH is a mobile application that can identify, monitor, and report crop pest and disease incidence. Meanwhile, SARAI Drone uses a multispectral camera to gather valuable data for agricultural monitoring.
To highlight Camarines Norte’s queen pineapple industry as well as feature queen pineapple technologies and products from Bicol's six provinces, DOST Bicol also conducted the Piñavation Festival simultaneously with the RSTW.
DOST-PCAARRD is a regular participant of the RSTW, an annual celebration organized by DOST regional offices across all 17 regions in the country. The RSTW serves as the regional lead-up event to the National Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (NSTW) held later in the year.
